Snowmobiling

Katahdin Air is offering its very comfortable and well equipped crew house to the avid snowmobiler. This modern dwelling is located literally at the Baxter State Park trail system staging area on the Golden Road. to get there, just drive North from Millinocket, 8 miles on the Baxter Park Road.The house has three bedrooms. One room has two twin beds, the second room has a double bed and the third room has a king size bed. The living room has a fol-out couch which makes into a twin bed.
The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom has a shower and normal facilities. The living room has a TV/VCR.
Snowmobilers cannot ask for a better location to begin their snowmobiling adventure. Trails to Baxter, trails connecting to JO Mary, Greeville, the North Maine Woods and points north to the Shin Pond, Oxbow and Portage trail systems...they all start here.
PORTAGE CAMP was built with the snowmobiler in mind. A warm and cozy cabin, it offers full house keeping so that you can do your own cooking if you desire. If you would like to eat out, there are many good restaurants within easy sled range from the cabin.
Other amenities at Portage camp are on sight x-country ski trails, hot showers (in your cabin), tons of well groomed trails, less traffic than other parts of the state and the best snow in the east.
